What Age Should My Child First See a Dentist?
Pediatric dentists and pediatricians recommend that all children see a dentist by their first birthday, or when their first tooth erupts. Although it seems early, these preventative care appointments can play a huge part in your child’s future dental health.
What Happens During My Child’s First Dental Visit?
Depending on your child’s comfort level, we’ll usually “count” their teeth while screening for concerns, take a few photographs or X-rays, and clean and polish their teeth. We work at your child’s pace, so if the first appointment needs to be more of a fun tour, we will arrange accordingly.
If Your Child Has Special Needs
Dental Kidz Club in The Inland Empire believes that all children are entitled to great dental care. If you are a parent to a child with special needs, please call us prior to their appointment and let us know how we can assist you. We will do everything possible to ensure an upbeat and successful visit for your entire family.
What if My Child Needs Treatment?
Emergency dental care can usually be rendered on the same day. However, routine procedures such as fillings or other treatments will typically be scheduled for a separate appointment.
We’ll review all of the different payment options available so that you know exactly what to expect.
Helping Your Child Prepare
Be sure to check out our Kids Zone page for tips and strategies on prepping your child for their first dental appointment. We encourage parents and caregivers to use positive language and talk about the dentist in an upbeat manner. A great way to help your child know what to expect is to play “dentist” at home with their favorite stuffed animal, a toothbrush, and flashlight!
What Ages Do We Treat?
As a children’s dentistry team, we see kids of all ages, ranging from infants to older teens. Usually, we’ll care for your child until they require an adult dentist for permanent tooth restoration, or if they’re about to head off to college.
The Dental Home is Intended to Provide a Place Other Than the Emergency Room for Parents.
We invite you to stay with your child during any visit or examination. For the safety and privacy of all patients, pregnant women, distracting parents, or other children (with a parent) who are not being treated should remain in the reception room.
We make appointments by phone and online, and we can see you anytime during our regular business hours:
